TUPELO, Miss. – North Mississippi Health Services Cancer Care has been recognized for excellence in laboratory testing by a national accrediting organization. 

The laboratory team at North Mississippi Medical Center Hematology Oncology earned the Laboratory Excellence Award from Clinical Laboratory Accreditation (COLA). 

The NMMC Hematology Oncology Laboratory achieved a perfect score on its accreditation survey and 100% successful proficiency testing results for 12 years in a row. The lab team is led by technical lab manager Rupal N. Vora and medical director Dr. Amit Jain. 

“Accurate, timely test results are essential to providing the best care for our Cancer Care patients,” Vora said. “Our team of laboratory professionals is constantly working to improve our processes.”

To receive accreditation from COLA, labs must meet U.S. Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act and other regulatory requirements, complete a rigorous onsite survey and pass proficiency testing.
